The Greek term aiòn has various meanings and is associated with psyché, the soul, existence meant as life, vitality, vital force, which can be identified with life itself or with its period, its duration or time, hence the Latin aevum and iuvenis. Indeed aión comes to be represented as a youth (as opposed to kronos resembling a senex), i.e. the youth playing with destiny. Therefore aiòn ideally matches our young psychoanalytical association. This non-profit cultural association aims at research, group analysis field training and also the spreading of group analysis and psychoanalytical work within state-owned psychiatric institutions. To pursue this aim it co-operates with fellow Associations having the same goals in their statutes, with Universities, Civil Service und local Health Utilities. Aiòn belongs to the C.O.I.R.A.G. (Federation of Italian Organisations for Anayltical Group Research). It holds regular psychoanalytical training activities in Cosenza, addressed to analysts in the making, through group analysis teams led by Sandro Rodghiero and the organisation of tutorial classes and Congresses. Since its foundation in 1995, Aiòn hat organized 17 conventions, mostly uncharged for, joining together Lecturers chosen among outstanding personalities in the field of national and international psychoanalysis.
