The School of Psychotherapy of C.O.I.R.A.G.
|
<>
|
At the end of 1998, the first students of the school specialized. The results, as a whole, are more than satisfactory. The aim to form psychotherapists potentially able to operate, with a group trend, in the totality of the work of cure, and to form groupanalysts (in a wider meaning) who can lead clinical groups, has been substantially reached, even if an integration (i. e. supervisions) could be useful assuming four years are not enough to reach such as ambitious objectives. The achievement of a fair level of all the specialized is still object of discussion.
The C.O.I.R.A.G. is a very "big" school that counts hundreds of persons among students, teachers, supervisors and tutors. This is its wealth, but even its responsibility.
An effort of simplification is taking place to adapt the actual rules to the new ministerial directives. We have made a cultural bet on the qualities and on the professionalism of the psychotherapists of the future, not a school that transmits codified learning; that was the statement of formation in the past, but today is largely inadequate. For example, regarding the experience of a personal therapy, necessary for every attending psychologist, it has been decided to analyze whoever wanted to, provided that he was qualified. It is still in discussion the idea of offering cheaper opportunities, but linked, in a stronger way, to the school. For the future, the goal is to follow or to precede the scientific evolution of psychic cure, and to contribute to increase more and more the efficacy. Some of the necessary competencies are, beside the traditional ones, the ability of inserting in the clinical work an epistemological, institutional and psychopathological way of thinking and of valuing the work between subjects; the ability of building and elaborating many a therapeutic set(ting) and a project for the patient; the ability of a conscious management of the "walking to groups" (classic, social-therapeutic, t-groupes, supervision groups, family groups, etc.).
This is becoming one of the greatest and most effective possibility in psycho therapeutics work, if managed with those competencies the school will always try to offer. At the end, all this gets in touch with the objective of "teaching" a strong ethical and professional strain which gives a greater importance to the patients and to the operative clinical and methodological competencies fair for the cure work. 1 report now a part of the school leaflet that can be considered as its institutional visualization, as it has been elaborated during the years.
The school of specialization in psychotherapy of the C.O.I.R.A.G. has been acknowledged by a M.U.R.S.T. decree in December 13'h 1993. The writer is the President, the Vice-President is prof. Ruvolo, who has the responsibility of the organization. Four Institutes are involved in the School: Milan (Dir. G. M. Pauletta), Palermo (Dir. G. Venza), Rome (Dir. M. Zanasi) and Turin (M. Gasseau). Preceptors and supervisors of this school are University teachers, doctors in psychiatric services, analysts with a great clinical experience, some of the Italian authorities in the field of group-analytic therapy, foreign teachers.

The C.O.I.R.A.G. and its specialization school

The Confederation of the Italian Organization for the Analytic Research on Groups has been founded in 1981 by the representatives of the main Italian Societies of Group Research, Analysis and Therapy, on the basis of a twenty-year long experience.
The C.O.I.R.A.G. has deeply discussed the problem of formation to analytic psychotherapy and produced a large amount of essays, researches and books on this theme.
Granting a specific clinical and technical competence of group therapists and discouraging improvisations and undue transpositions from other fields has been the aim strongly pursued by the Confederation until 1993, when the School of Specialization in Psychotherapy of C.O.I.R.A.G. was founded. The School is recognized by Italian Government and issues a diploma of "Psychotherapist". It is linked to the main international societies in this field (l.A.G.P., G.A.S.., E.G.A.T.E.N.., etc.).

School trend and formative project
|
<>
|
The formative project of the school gathers and supplements a professional, scientific and didactic tradition that has been produced for more than thirty years of activity by schools and centers that contributed to its foundation, with more than half a century of international experience in analytic therapy of group and in individual, familiar and institutional group-oriented therapy. The School course is led by a theoretical-clinical group summit that started in scientific-cultural field of the group analysis, of the psychoanalysis, of the analytic psychodrama and of the institutional analysis. The didactics consist of a common part for all the students, which contains theoretical lessons, annual workshop in group dynamics and training, and of a strictly clinical part committed to the confederated centers, which consists of learning of the technical-methodological and cultural abilities typical of each confederated Society, which is principally achieved through an active group work.
The general inspiration of the formation project is based on the conviction that competencies in individual and group psychotherapy need strong theoretical-experiential ideas on the multi-personal conception of mind and psychopathology, on group processes, on the relation culture/family/social environment/psychopathology and on the understanding and management of institutional and anthropological-biological processes.
The formation the School offers aims both to private and public work and clinical-social one, and therefore prepares both to analytic psychotherapy in general and to the leading of clinical-dynamical groups in sanitary, training, productive and educational context and more over.
